When Knowt is still the better choice

  • You want a free Quizlet replacement

Knowt’s free tier is genuinely generous: flashcards, notes and several study modes at no cost. If you don’t need exam-style formats, it’s hard to beat.

  • You rely on a shared library

Knowt’s community cards cover US school and college subjects. StudyTab focuses on cards made from your own material.

  • You study a US curriculum

Knowt is shaped around AP and US college courses. If that’s your syllabus, its content and modes fit closely out of the box.

But if you’re preparing for a big exam and want exam-style questions, diagram quizzes, formulas that display properly and a real review schedule, all made from your own material, StudyTab fits the exam you’re actually sitting.

How is StudyTab different from Knowt?
Both make AI cards from your files. Knowt pairs that with a free Quizlet-style experience and a huge shared library. StudyTab pairs it with a real review schedule for every card, exam-style card types, a knowledge graph and a tutor that answers from your own pages.
Can I bring my Knowt material over?
Yes. Upload the original files (PDFs, notes) to StudyTab and make fresh cards in seconds. Anki decks (.apkg) import directly, with their due dates and intervals.
How is the spaced repetition different?
In StudyTab every card has its own schedule (FSRS or classic SM-2), set per deck, with retention presets and a forecast of upcoming reviews. It covers your whole library, not one set at a time.
Is StudyTab free?
Yes. The free plan gives you notes, all 8 card types and spaced-repetition reviews, with no time limit and no card needed. Pro is optional: it maps your whole syllabus with the gaps marked, turns handwritten notes into cards and gives you ten times the daily AI help. See the pricing page for details.
